There are a number of choices when you’re shopping for shutters. But if you want a shutter that’s truly environmentally friendly, durable, energy efficient and safe for your family, Polywood® is the only one.

Over our history, Sunburst Shutters has been committed to protecting the environment. We support sustainability for the future, reducing energy use, and preserving natural resources. We have a different view on the world than other shutter companies. It’s more than a program; it’s a way of life. We call it GreenView™. GreenView demonstrates that Polywood shutters are perfect for your home and the environment.

Recycled Material:
Polywood is totally recyclable. Every Polywood shutter contains up to 20% recycled Polywood content. No other shutter company does that.
The Industry’s Only: Take-Back Program
If a Polywood customer ever wants to change their window coverings, Sunburst Shutters offers a program to keep Polywood out of landfills. The customer simply removes their shutters and calls Sunburst to arrange a pick-up. Sunburst will take the shutters and re-use them or re-grind them for use in future Polywood shutters, keeping them out of landfills. Click here to schedule a pick up.
Protects Forests:
Polywood is a synthetic material that uses no wood whatsoever.
Unsurpassed Durability:
Polywood is the only shutter with UV inhibitors in the material and the paint—protecting it from damaging sun rays. It is water-proof, flame retardant, and termite-proof. Its proprietary paint finish is baked on at temperatures hotter than it will ever get in your window, so Polywood lasts longer than any other shutter.
Non-Toxic Paint Finish:
Sunburst Shutters’ patented paint finishes have been proven to be environmentally safe and are even below the normal VOC emissions. In our manufacturing process there are no fumes from paint or other processes that are emitted into the environment.
No Out-Gassing:
There are no harmful gasses emitted by Polywood shutters.

Highest Energy Savings:
Polywood has been tested by multiple agencies and proven to have the highest R-Value, best thermal protection, best reduction of heat transfer, and offer the most energy efficiency of any shutter on the market. If you want to save on your power bills, Polywood is your shutter!

A 3rd party thermal test showed that Polywood blocked as much as 30 degrees of temperature coming through the window. That means the HVAC system doesn’t have to work as hard.

Recycled Packaging:
Polywood shutters are packaged in reusable corner pieces with minimal cardboard.
Waste Reduction:
Sunburst Shutters and its partners reuse any and all materials whenever possible. We recycle water used to cool shutter components as they come out of ovens. We reuse packaging materials. We reuse shutter pieces or regrind them and recycle them into new shutters. We recycle hundreds of tons of materials every year.

Sunburst is the first shutter company to belong to the US Green Building Council. We support green design, products, and buildings.
